Nigeria is blessed as a nation made up of many tribes, these tribes have diverse cultures and consequently food that is native to every single culture and region. It is such an interesting blend of cuisines and as a lover of delicious food and especially what we term “swallow”, I quickly learned what soups I could make to enjoy myself to the maximum. I learnt from far and wide, from mothers and market traders to friends; conversations about Nigerian Cuisine made my belly happy.
Nigerian Soups are delicious, they vary from tribe to tribe. Many tribes share similar soups but perhaps a few different ingredients or vegetables or method of preparation sets them apart.
For many years I have received requests to share my recipes for delicious Nigerian Food and Nigerian Soups in particular. Nigerian cuisine is a hidden gem and I hope that Volume 1 of this Book of Soups uncovers some of what you have been missing, how to enjoy it and an appreciation for the diversity and richness of Nigerian Cuisine.
