I’m excited about this review because the food was so yummy! Labule, which means ‘in the village’ in Yoruba language, was conceptualized as an idea of a restaurant where local Nigerian dishes are prepared and served with the great local tastes and nuances served in a contemporary setting.Labule offers lovers of Nigerian food a delicious and unique experience by offering real Nigerian local delicacies hitherto only available in local ‘Buka’(canteens) in a cozy and serene environment.
WHO I WENT WITH
I went with my sister, Riwo’s mom, but we left Riwo at home because her ijogbon will not let us eat well but we came along with Tutusco and she behaved herself well clinging to her uncle YomYom. Bobo came along too and you know a family that chop and reviews together, stays together!

These girls love their jobs!
HOSPITALITY
It is set up like a normal fast food outlet so you have to go to the till , select what you want and it will be given to you. I met the owner (s) and they were very welcoming and explained to us the concept of Labule. Also the guy that attended to us was very courteous and explained what meal options were available.
LOOKEY FEELY
Labule Restaurant tries to recreate the traditional ambiance in a contemporary setting. You can see mats, horse tail, shekere and other traditional pieces being used as decoration. Loved that. The set up was clean, they have about 3 dinning areas. The first one is where I guess guest would typically dine in. If you have a more intimate event, there’s another space you can dine in, that’s where we ate. Then there’s another spot upstairs.

WHAT WE HAD
Some of their delicious offerings are Pounded Yam and Eforiro, Amala with Gbegiri and Ewedu, Fufu with Afang Soup, Eba with Edikaikong, Tuwo with Gbegiri and Ewedu, Semovita with Okro soup and Goat Meat, Jollof Rice with Plantain, Yam Pottage among many other irresistible Nigerian dishes. They also have Nigerian snacks like Dundun, Akara, Ojojo, Asun and Suya.
I had amala, I’v e been dreaming of amala and ewedu since ehn so immediately I got there making a choice was not difficult for me. I also had it with gbegiri, make I talk true, this is my second time eating gbegiri and I loved it. The first time I had it put me off totally. This one make sense. I had kpomo, shaki and beef…halleluyah we can still eat kpomo! Everything was just going down fiam, fiam, fiam.
Oh la la…my food!
Gbegiri
My empty plate
Riwo’s mom had ofada rice and ayamase sauce with snail. I had a spoon of it, and it was yummy. I loved that it came wrapped in the traditional leaves, which always adds some flavour to it. O dun!
Ofada
Bobo went with Egusi and Amala, they had fufu too if we wanted. Bobo calls fufu loiloi…I don’t know why. Is it a Port Harcourt thing? LOL. I only know it as fufu and akpu. I also tasted Bobo’s Egusi and it was…..delicious! I hope it tastes like that everytime oh…it reminded me of my own Egusi. I like different variations of Egusi soup: Plain runny Egusi. Runny Egusi with vegetable and then thick Egusi with vegetable. My favourite is Egusi to thick gan, with assorted inside. Licks lips in rememberance.
Bobo loves Kunu so when he saw they had it he was very excited to try it out. Compared to one Kunu we bought in Magodo, this was was very very nice, I almost finished the bottle! Bobo has found his new kunu joint. LOL. Meanwhile Riwo’s mom bought pap, aka akamu for Tutusco…she’d been looking for this type. Everybody was happy!!!
DAMAGE DONE
Our meal was complimentary (woohoo) BUT because the food was so good we ordered for some more and paid from our pockets. I ordered Jollof Rice and Beef x 2. Ordered for Ofada rice, about 4 bottles of Kunu and then pap for the smally. The damage done was very nice LOL. Just take a look at the prices! What I loved the most was Buka foodat that kainBuka price!
