There’s a favourite place I love to eat and it is called…The Place. I always find it amusing when I’m asked, “where are you going and I respond with “The Place. It is indeed The Place to go. Here’s why! It’s not just a restaurant, it’s a bar as well, so you will find it very busy in the evenings and weekends.
WHO I WENT WITH
See ehn, I have gone to The Place almost over 30 times and trust me I’ve gone with Bobo, my mom, Semilore’s mom, my dad, everybody that is beside me when I’m hungry! I can drive all the way to their outlets either in Lekki or GRA Ikeja. I’ve been to the one in V.I but that’s my least favourite outlet because in my opinion their portions are smaller. The Place is where I go for correct food and correct price, in fact make dem come put me on their signboard oh because of the investments I’ve made in their business.
LOOKEY FEELY
The Place (Restaurant) is not big on décor, it’s basic because that is not why we are here! LOL. Ok, it’s just like a cafeteria really, where you are bamboozled with options of what you want to eat. It is mostly neat but crowded during peak hours i.e Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday. You know what? There’s a queue at The Place most of the time so get ready to stand in line for the food. The toilets are fairly clean, and as for ambiance, there’s not much. Nothing fancy.
HOSPITALITY
I do not think in my months of going there that I have been treated poorly, although I vexed for one of the attendants in their V. I outlets once when he served my food portion so small as if he was measuring it with my height. Apart from that, the attendants are ok. Very busy, so not much time for senrenren, it’s usually “ what do you want to eat sir/ma, next!”…you gerrit?
WHAT WE HAD
My favourite thing to have is their asun (20 man shall all if anybody tries to beg me for the asun). I think I’vve had almost everything The Place sells except the Calabar food, Ekpang nkukwo : I’ve had asun, catfish, moin moin, beans, yam porridge, yamarita, prawn sauce, jollof rice, Spaghetti, fried rice, jambalaya rice, ofada rice, meat pie, scotch egg, vegetable fried rice…I can go on. I think the variety is amazing! If they want to just step up their game I would suggest they add Banga and Starch. Daaazaaal. I think they have the widest range, variety-wise.
DAMAGE DONE
When I go with Bobo we spend nothing more than N4500 and our typical order is Sisi: Asun, Spaghetti, Fried Fish/ Prawn Sauce. Bobo : Catfish, Yam Porridge, Moin moin and juice. We switch it up but this is our typical order. I think its good value for money.
VERDICT
I love The place: the first place when I think about when I’m hungry and cannot cook is The Place. I bet bachelors love The Place, why not? They can have beans and dodo in the afternoon, then have jollof rice for dinner, and switch it up different days…their variety and good taste is the selling point and that’s all you need really when you’re hungry.
Have you tried The Place ? What was your experience like?
