Hi!!! How’s everyone doing today? I can generalize that most Nigerians know what Vaseline is, you’ve probably used it or know someone who does. I grew up with Vaseline and it never leaves my vanity, that’s because I have found multiple uses for it! I always buy the one with the cocoa butter scent, I think the regular one smells like “engine oil”. Biko, don’t mind me. So here are 11 things I use Vaseline for:
- Eye Makeup remover: Vaseline easily removes eye makeup, I moisturize around my eyes: eyelids, eyebrows where I have applied makeup, I rub it in then wipe it off with a swab of cotton tissue or a warm cloth. It’s that easy!
- Remove Chewing-gum from surfaces: I chew gum regularly so it’s not a surprise that you would find gum on my table or some odd places, especially on my bedside table sha. You can un-stick the gum by applying Vaseline on that spot till it comes off.
- Maintaining Perfume Scent: Before applying perfume, I rub my my arms or pulse points with Vaseline. This way the scent of the perfume lasts longer…if you have a really good perfume, it can last for days on your skin! Try it!
- Get Rid of Ashy Spots: No matter how I apply body cream there are some spots that remain dry or turn ashy after a few hours. To prevent this I apply Vaseline to my elbows, my ankles, my knees and my hands. This is dry season oh! Say no to ashy skin!
- Insert Your Earrings Easily: Sometimes it is difficult putting on earrings. I have two holes in each ear and there’s a tendency for one to get blocked. Even if it’s not blocked, sometimes it is just difficult to insert earrings. I make this process less stressful by rubbing a bit of Vaseline on my lobes. No more injuries!
- Prevent Sticky Lids: I love my nail polish but there’s always the problem of opening the bottle after a while, that’s because the nail polish around the tips would have tried up. I avoid this by rubbing a bit of Vaseline around the tip before I cover it after each use!
- Un-stick Nail Polish: Still on nail polish, I rub Vaseline around my cuticles when applying polish to my nails, I always make mistakes and the polish would stain the skin around my nails, but with Vaseline as a base, it comes off easily once my nail polish is dry.
- Shine Those Shoes: Please don’t laugh at me, I use a tiny bit of Vaseline to shine my shoes on days when I’m running late and need my shoes looking good. Just a tiny bit of Vaseline will revive your shoes.
- Excellent for Exfoliating: Did you know you could mix sugar and Vaseline together and use the mixture to exfoliate your skin? Try that one. I sometimes add some essential oils…
- Brow Grooming Made Easy: I like to moisturize my eyebrows before tweezing/shaping them, Vaseline makes the hair softer and makes the whole process easier. It also minimizes your chances of getting injured especially if you use blades to groom your brows.
- Grow Your Lashes: I hardly use lash extensions, I use only mascara on my lashes and I like the length. Vaseline can lengthen your lashes, over time you will notice it grows! I’m testifying oh!
