Apparently it appears that Nigerian women seem to be crazy about getting married and being married regardless of what happens in the marriage, is the word "obsessed" the right word to describe this? This is a HOT TOPIC because it has 27,000 views already and the comment section is a lot of fun! Do you you agree or nah? Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to my Youtube channel HERE

Great Video 😃 I enjoyed your detailed breakdown of the topic. I live in the U.S. and I got to experience this issue when I visited Nigeria recently after nearly ten years of my last visit. I am married with four kids but I do not like wearing rings (jewelry) on my fingers and it's not a big deal where I live and my loving husband knows and understands.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I was surprised when my friends and cousins kept telling me it was a big deal to have my wedding ring (band) on when we go out and I was like; "hey! Ladies!!" 😂 Slow down...
Yes my sister its even a bigger deal to some of us from the east,my nanny who id her early thirties has high BP now because she is not married.
ReplyDeleteGbam!!!! sisi you just hit the nail on the head, infact you have said it all. Its basically the society that makes us obsessed with the whole marriage thing. Its well oo #sisiyemmieblogaddict#
ReplyDeleteThis was a really interesting video. BTW, your hair is bae.

Let me start by saying you are the first Nigerian woman l have heard cover the topic of Nigerian women & marriage honestly . I am 55 and have never been married. The reasons for that are painful .lnspite of this, l strive to be happy and live a good life. I don't live in Nigeria so l don't have to hear that l may be a witch or may have been a loose woman when l was growing up.
DeleteThanks for keeping it real.
Of course I enjoyed your video but I think it more than the factors you highlighted.Another factor is that the physiological make up of the woman naturally make them feel unfulfilled if they are not married. As they get older, their bodies starts yearning for the touch of a man and if there is no man to 'work' on the their bodies, after awhile they become psychotic.
ReplyDeleteYet another factor is the fact that sex outside of marriage is a sin. So to justify having sex with your man,and to also have a man for sex anytime you need it, marriage has to come in. Otherwise, the lady will always feel guilty.
Like you said, in Africa, any woman that is not married is seen as having spiritual problems.
