Don't knock it till you try it oh. I remember "in those days" when I was ill momsy would make a rich ugu drink, she go add milk and I think malt, I used to love it! Now back to this smoothie, you go like am and all you need to make it is readily available. The English name for Ugu/Ugwu leaves is fluted pumpkin.
INGREDIENTS
Ugu vegetable
1 small Pineapple
2 Limes
1/2 cup Water
PREPARATION
- Wash Ugu leaves to get rid of dirt and sand.
- Cut pineapple into chunks
- Squeeze the juice of the limes and set aside
- In a blender add Ugu, pineapple and the lime juice. Also add water. Blend till it is smooth.
Place in the fridge and serve chilled.
Yummy! My mum always makes this for us back then too, she adds peak milk to it, it's quite delicious and healthy, very good for the body and very good for pregnant women too. Funny enough I wrote about it on my blog yesterday.
