Computers play a big role in our everyday lives, and even our extraordinary moments. To communicate that message, Intel held a media launch with the theme- “With a Computer, You are Powerful”. The event held at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi on Friday, the 12th of August.
To further explain the objective of the campaign, the Marketing and PR Manager of Intel West Africa, Adim Isiakpona spoke with us at length, talking about how the campaign came about and what Intelhopes to achieve with it in the nation.
“Unlocking your ability to get online any time, read, research and explore different concepts that spur creative ideas for your business and/or lifestyle is just a snippet of the kind of power a computer offers you.” He said, excitedly.
He also went on to add that “while a smartphone or tablet may afford you internet access and mobility, there are some things only a laptop can do, making it a necessity and not a luxury. The variety of content you can create through applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word is unimaginable. From editing photos and videos to creating music and art, a laptop can help you do it whilst on the go. You simply carry your office with you.”
He called for the adoption of the PCs across the nation to further provoke an increase in ICT growth, and ensure that the power of technology is felt across all platforms in Nigeria. According to him ““Nigeria is a booming economy with a vast array of talent, wealth, and brain-power. This year, Inteland its partners are proud to unveil this campaign in the hopes of encouraging ICT growth, and ensuring that the power of technology is felt across all platforms in Nigeria. The campaign speaks directly to the relevance of having a computer. Inarguably, there are endless opportunities to be gained through the use of a computer, and we want Nigerians to know that. We believe that indeed- with a computer, you are powerful.”
Special guests that graced the event were Intel She Will Connect Ambassador, Titilope Sonuga; Noble Igwe; Adebola Williams, Wana Wana Udobong, Tosyn Buknor, Kemi Lala Akindoju; Emma Oh Ma God; and Sisi Yemmie; amongst others.
