It's World Jollof Rice Day on the 21st August. How did we all agree on this date? I don't know. Do we need a day to celebrate the awesomeness that is Jollof? Yes ke! So today I'm going to share 6 jollof recipes I have made that you would absolutely love-each jollof flavour is different from the other but the king of all jollof flavours is party Jollof! Agree?
PARTY JOLLOF RICE
This is the KING of all Jollofs! The first time I shared this recipe aka the "let it burn" recipe was way back in 2013. It was a hit back to back! It is still one of my popular recipes till date! I finally filmed a video for it in 2015 so that you have both print and video. Check it out HERE
BASMATI JOLLOF RICE
This time, I’m sharing with you my Basmati Jollof Rice recipe I use whenever I want to make my husband smile. I was able to give him this treat on his birthday and he loved this one, you should see his grin! I'm going to make it again for his birthday (New Years Day!). I "jelox" his birthdate very much. The results you get depend on the kind of basmati rice you use. See the recipe HERE.HERE
NATIVE JOLLOF RICE
The first time I made this rice it almost caused quarrel because everybody wanted MORE and there was none left. Don't mind them, dem don see rice wey get kpomo, fish and all these mede-mede now everybody blood dey hot. LOL. Even me I was almost getting emotional that the rice was not enough. Since then, I marked it as a family favourite. See the recipe HERE.
PASTA JOLLOF SPAGHETTI
This was the first spaghetti recipe I shared and that was in 2015. It is so easy to make and used to be my go-to style for spaghetti until I started adding minced beef. But trust me, this no fuss recipe is a winner, almost similar ingredients but different flavour. You should try it out. See it HERE.
JAMBALAYA JOLLOF
Initially I was making Jollof but added a bunch of other ingredients and ended up with a spoon-licking jambalaya rice. So can we call it Jambalaya Jollof? T's not 100% Jambalaya and it's not 100% Jollof. LOL. Name this dish! I think it deserves a spot on this list. Don't miss the recipe HERE
MINCED BEFF JOLLOF SPAGHETTI
This recipe is the one you will be jumping upandan for when you try it. It is so rich and definitely not fit-fam friendly but oh...not overtime fit-fam. Sometimes chop better food for your belle. YOLO! I only shared this recipe yesterday so check on it HERE
COCONUT JOLLOF RICE
This was my Christmas recipe. I absolutely love it because I'm crazy about coconuts! One day I asked myself, "what will happen if I add coconut milk to this jollof rice I'm cooking"? I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be spoon-licking good! The sweetness from the coconut milk and onions just bring a different taste to the meal. Don't miss the recipe HERE
JOLLOF YAM PORRIDGE
Why does this count as a jollof recipe? Well the process is "jollofy"-the only difference is that I used yam. It is basically Yam porridge made in tomato sauce, so it is not your every day asaro. LOL. I'm cheating abi? All join! See the recipe HERE
