C'mon people! What is so wrong in Stephanie wanting to make 300 sandwiches for her boyfriend. Oh, you don't know what I'm talking about? This news story has been trending since yesterday, let me break it down for you!
Stephanie Smith has a blog called 300 Sandwiches which she says was inspired by her boyfriend, Eric.
"My boyfriend E is obsessed with two things: Star Wars and sandwiches. During a Sunday lunchtime viewing of "Return of the Jedi" he told me: "you are 300 sandwiches away from an engagement ring!" ... And so, I got cooking "...
Suddenly, so many people want to crucify her for doing this, the feminists have come baring their fangs and I don't understand why such a beautiful story has turned into "Oh, she's in an abusive relationship". LOL. If she wants to make sandwiches for le boo, let her go ahead and make 1000, did she complain? She has managed to take on the challenge and turned it into a great blog. Win-Win. Please read the below excerpts and tell me what you think!
According Stephanie:
My boyfriend, Eric, is the gourmet cook in our relationship,
but he’d always want me to make him a sandwich.
Each morning, he would ask, “Honey, how long you have been
awake?”
“About 15 minutes,” I’d reply.
“You’ve been up for 15 minutes and you haven’t made me a
sandwich?”
To him, sandwiches are like kisses or hugs. Or sex.
“Sandwiches are love,” he says. “Especially when you make them. You can’t get a
sandwich with love from the deli.”
One lazy summer afternoon just over a year ago, I finally
gave in. I assembled turkey and Swiss on toasted wheat bread. I spread Dijon
mustard generously on both bread slices, and I made sure the lettuce was
perfectly in line with the neatly stacked turkey slices.
Eric devoured the sandwich as if it were a five-star meal,
diving in with large, eager bites. “Babes, this is delicious!” he exclaimed.
As he finished that last bite, he made an unexpected
declaration of how much he loved me and that sandwich: “Honey, you’re 300
sandwiches away from an engagement ring!”

I dont think anything bad of it....he might ve said it in a joking manner that she decided to blog about it not thinking of it as anything...what of they guy propse b4 the 300 sandwich abi doesnt propose after all....ppl jus like to blog things out of proportion jare
ReplyDeleteI hope he actually proposes before it gets to number 300...would be more romantic!
DeleteWhat's the big deal? I'm sure he probably didn't mean it sef. If it's okay by her to make them, fine!
ReplyDeleteYou know how people like to read strange meaning into some things
DeleteThis is just the normal blogging cliche.
ReplyDeleteAt least its not 300 pounded yam away from an engagement ring
ReplyDeletehahahaaha abi o. In fact all these media attention might make the guy propose quicker sef.
DeleteLOL! You know!!!
Deletelwkm! u know this
DeleteHmm
DeleteAre you kidding? 300 pounded yam away. D babe for don 'wear' before wedding. Wetin wan remain to chop after the wedding? Pounded fufu?
DeleteOkay, so what's their deal? she wants to make 300 sandwiches for her boo, ehen? and so what? Even if he forced her (which i doubt he did) she seems very happy doing it, for her to even start a blog about it sef...so why drink panadol untop the matter for her? Untop her own love life again??? At the end of the day, it will be a great accomplishment for her, 300 sandwiches?? is nor beans oh!...i hope she gets the ring tho!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly the way I understood it, I don't see the big deal, but you know all these feminists....
DeleteI think its a fun idea....he probably did not mean she had to make 300 sandwiches but its a fun challenge. Plus we get free sandwich recipes.
ReplyDeletelol i like you already !
DeleteAbi oh! This is a WIN-WIN situation for EVERYBODY! We are not complaining
DeleteI do not see a big deal in it, although he probably does not mean she had to make up to 300. I totally agree with Halima! Doing it is fun, I do not see a reason why shes bn criticized. I only wish when she eventually gets the ring, we'd know about it.
ReplyDeleteWe need to follow up on this story! lol
DeleteI THINK IT IS KIND OF CUTE !! HEY WHAT WORK FOR THEM DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL WORK FOR US ..WE JUST HAVE TO RESPECT HER DECISION

DeleteLol @ 300 pounded yam. I hope that's not the Nigerian version
ReplyDeletewe can only come up with 2 ways to make pounded yam. lol
DeleteThat's a lovely idea for a food blog, and they look cute together too :)
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly!
DeleteLol @ 300 pounded yam. I hope that wouldn't be the Nigerian version
ReplyDeletedefo the 9ja version lol
DeleteAt first I thought it was cute until I read this:
ReplyDelete-------
Each morning, he would ask, “Honey, how long you have been awake?”
“About 15 minutes,” I’d reply.
“You’ve been up for 15 minutes and you haven’t made me a sandwich?”
------
To each their own I guess. I'm glad she's found a way to make it fun and is getting publicity over it.
I still think it's cute, it depends though in the context, if he said it jokingly, then no wahala, if he said it abusively, i'm sure she would get the message
Deleteshe makes great sandwiches. She can easily open a sandwich shop by the end of the challenge, because she would have become a sandwich queen by then.Or even have her own recipe book
ReplyDeleteI dont see a big deal in it.
nice blog layout btw
themanecaptain.blogspot.ca
I think she would get a book deal! Rooting for her lol
DeleteIf she didn't want to do it she wouldn't. It was probably said as a joke (context is everything) and it turned out to be a brilliant idea for a food blog.
ReplyDeleteAbi oh! She was given lemons, she made lemonades
DeleteDon't see much wrong with it - though, I'd really like to see where they stand in 4 years!
ReplyDelete!.!.!
I'd like to see that too, I wish them the very best
