DeleteWell said, Sisi.
ReplyDeleteI think there are various components to consider while addressing this topic. Two immediately come to mind; societal status and society. There's something about the way our society runs/functions that makes it seem like you have to have the latest and greatest to be acknowledged, regardless of age.
Also, take for example, a pretty girl who grows up in a less privileged family. Mum probably a teacher in a public school, and father jobless. If such a girl finds sugar daddy(s) that start taking care of her at a young age, see her through school and cater to all her needs to the point where she becomes the breadwinner of her family. What's the motivation for this kind of girl to go and do work? Mind you it's not like there are jobs everywhere, oh? Don't get me wrong oh, not saying it's right. But I think it's the reality of most people who get trapped in that kind of life.
I definitely think we should address more of these kinds of issues as a society, however, I don't think it's as simple...

I agree with you. There are different components to consider... that video was originally over 20 minutes long, had to cut off most of the parts where I considered these other issues.

I cant wait to get an endorsement deal!!! LOL. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeletewell said! I think the media has a big part to play in this too. I mean how come every campus movie has to show girls prostituting? why can't they have a girl who actually has a ready part time job working in a restaurant, store or whatever? I believe Nollywood has glorified this and made it okay for girls to do it.
ReplyDeleteThe whole synthetic hair craziness is a disease which needs to be eradicated, particularly in Africa!
Parents and schools have to teach on self esteem and the importance of individualism. I find many Nigerians live in a collectively where they do what EVERYONE else is doing, even if they're not in the means to follow such trend.
Also, yemmie, the background music is too loud :(
